What are STEAMs kit?
STEAMS Kit is a portable box of hands-on, one-hour technology lessons with an engaging series of STEAMS projects involving light, sound, and movement that encourage tamariki to develop electronic and programming understanding.
The kit contains all the components necessary (except the computer), 14 hands-on, detailed lessons. The kit starts with simple electronic concepts that then lead students into controlling those electronics through programming with an Arduino pattern based platform.
How do I get started with STEAMs kits?
If you are ready to start your STEAMS kit journey and are confident to manage the kit yourself, feel free to pop over to our shop and purchase the number of kits that work for your situation.
These kits works best on either a 1:1 or 1 between 2 situation and are best for students who are at least 7 years old and have a good level of hand eye coordination. Younger students are encouraged to give the first couple of lessons a go.
If you’re a little hesitant about the electronics journey and would like some support, we have online sessions for teachers only, to run through the first few lessons and answer any questions raised in later lessons. In some areas, we are able to support classes by having an educator deliver the first lessons alongside you. Email us to discuss what will work best with your students amy@ministryofinspiration.org
What equipment or tools do I need?
The beauty of the STEAMS kit is that you don’t need anything other than what comes in the box.
Once you get started you may find you run out of electronics materials or want to investigate parts not included in the pack. Many of these parts are available cheaply via websites like AliExpress or Trademe.
